Utashito Nakashima was born on March 21, 1896, in Kyoto, Japan. Real personal name: Toshiyuki.
Established Seiha (Orthodox) Ikuta school and became its headmaster (1913). Organized Seiha Hogakukai (The Orthodox Japanese Music Society) (1952). Made public original music score of his invention and issued the society organ Gakudo (Way of Music).
For some time participated in the new Japanese music movement. Jed by Michio Miyagi and others, made Waka-no Ura, play by Shoyo Tsubouchi into a dance drama and composed music for it.
As Japanese representative attended International Music Olympic Committee meeting held in the U.S. in 1953.
