1907-1909 Party work in Saint St. Petersburg. 1909 arrested; spent some eight years in prison and exile. After 1917 February Revol worked for Kiev Russian Social-Democratic Workers ’Party (Bolsheviks) Conn and Bolshevik newspaper Zvezda in Yekatcrinoslav.
October 1917 returned to Petrograd and did propaganda and agitation work in connection with October Revol. 1917 at 2nd All-Russian Congress of Soviets elected member, All-Russian Central Executive Committee. Member, ed staff, Izvestia: from 1922 teaching and research work in Leningrad.
1919, 1927 and 1930 deleg at 8th, 15th and 16th Party Congresses. Wrote studies of Lenin. Compiled systematic index of Lenin’s works.
In his latter years directed Leningrad Institute of Parly History.
