Joined the border guards (NKVD), 1938. During World War II, on active service in the army, probably with SMERSH. After World War II, returned to the state security system (border guards). Chief-of-staff of border guard troops, 1967-1972, and commander of the same, 1972.
Deputy chairman of the Committee for State Security.
