(All structures change randomly in time and space because ...)
All structures change randomly in time and space because they are subject to external actions such as earthquakes, wind, moving loads, acoustic pressures, and temperature effects. In many cases, the fracture of these structures results from a loss of the stability. Addressing the problem of the stability of elastic and viscoelastic systems from a dynamic point of view, this book analyzes the influence of the probabilistic characteristics of random processes, damping, and the characteristics of the viscosity on the stability boundaries. This text: provides an exact solution of the stability problem using analytical and numerical methods; takes into account the influence of the external damping; and develops asymptotic methods for estimating critical loads on structures.
