Studied at Belorussian high-school in Vilnius. 1929 expelled from school for participating in underground Communist Youth League organisation.
1930-1932 lived in Belorussian Soviet Socialist Republic and worked for newspaper “Zvyazda”. Later returned to West Belorussian and resumed underground Communist activities: worked for newspaper “Chyrvony stsyah” and edited illegal newspaper “Belaruskaya hazeta”. Soon arrested by Polish authorities and until 1939 imprisoned in Grodno jail.
During World War 2 fought with partisans. After World War 2 senior associate, Yanka Kupala Museum, Minsk.
