He is currently playing with Avangard Omsk of the Kontinental Hockey League (|KHL). Vasilyev was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 7th round (201st overall) of the 2012 National Hockey League Entry Draft. Vasilyev made his Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) debut playing with The Human Context Spartak Moscow during the 2012-2013 KHL season.
