Career
Carpenter by trade; 1904-1914 Menshevik. 1915-1917 exiled in Siberia for anti-war propaganda. 1918-1920 Presidium member, Moscow Province Economic Council.
1919-1920 plenipotentiary for supply of 1st Turkestani Army. Deputy plenipotentiary for Turkestani Front. Chairman, Turkm Centr Economic Council.
Fought in Civil War; 1921 — 32 head, Proletarian Culture Organization(s), People's Commissariat of Education. 1936-1938 ed work; 1941 volunteer in Civil Defense. 1913 began work as lit critic.
1918 first story published.
