KAZANSKY, Valeriy was born in 1894.
1919 graduated Petrograd Military Medicine Academy.
Board member, All Union Society of Oncologists. Со-Editor, “Surgery” section, “Bolshaya meditsinskaya entsiklopediya” (Large Medical Encyclopedia), 2nd edition. 1945 first in USSR to perform successfully several radical operations for cancer of the esophagus.
Developed surgical methods of treating this ailment and methods of anesthetizing the anterior mediastinum in stenocarditis. First in USSR to perform and introduce omentocardiopexy for treating coronary insufficiency. Developed an original method of vascularizing the myocardium by suturing the omentum to the heart.
Works deal with surgery, hematology and oncology. 1919-1922 army physician. 1923-1934 surgeon in KaraKalpak Autonomous Oblast.
1935-1938 Assistant, Professor S. I. Spasokukotsky’s Surgical Clinics, 2nd Moscow Medicine Institute and Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion. 1938-1940 senior associate, 1941-1952 Head, Surgical Clinic, Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion.
