Career
Dr. Valery Chernyavskiy is well known public health expert . During his professional career he was involved in many projects and research in advocacy and policy development, planning, managing and evaluating public health, human resources development for health, maternal & child health and community development programs in the Eastern Europe and Central Asia,
His project in EURO WHO office in 1989-1991 in cooperation with ASPHER and number of Schools of Public Health in Europe was devoted creation educational modules of European Master on Public Health. In 1996 to 2002 his work in European Regional Offcie of WHO were the establishment of implementation through the Public Health Advisers the plans for a comprehensive health reform projects in Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Republic of Moldova, Russian Federation, Uzbekistan and the managing the projects on strengthening primary health care in the most affected from ecological disaster areas around the drying Aral sea, cooperation on Health in Barents Region of Northwest of Russia.
From 2003 to 2012 as a Senior Portfolio Manager he managing of the Global Fund’s Grants on HIV/AIDS , TB and Malaria in 13 countries with the total amount of the Grants worth more than $ 350 million, involvement in the development of portfolio management in the Global Fund, coordination of the Global Fund cooperation with WHO , cooperation with the Governments , UN partners , bilateral agencies at the Global and country levels.
Dr. Chernyavskiy has written extensively in scientific literature, and has received several Honorary Degrees, Honorary Professor on Public Health, Postgraduate Medical Institute, Bratislava, Slovak Republic and Honorary Professor ( Dr.h.c.) AZUSA Pacific University (USA)
