Valery Alekseevich lived in Voronezh from 1973. He visited the art studio of G.M. Pertseva in the garrison house of officers in 1973. He graduated from Voronezh Art College in 1979. His teachers E.Y. Poshivalov, V.A. Presnyakov and V.V. Shavrin.
Valery Alekseevich was a participant of thematic city and region all-Russian exhibitions since 1979. He taught at the Youth Creativity Center of Comintern District in Voronezh from 1999 to 2002. He applies the technique of original and printed graphics.
Valery Alekseevich painted a series of linocuts "The Tale of Igor's Campaign" in the period from 2002 to 2003 as well as a number of other paintings. He organized an art exhibition dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Voronezh Oblast in Diorama Museum in 2000. Semyonov's personal exhibitions were held at Voronezh Construction Engineering Institute in 1985, Voronezh House of Actor in 1998 and the exhibition hall of the Union of Artists in 2000.
