Impressed by his work on a geological expedition in Guinea (1995-1996), Valery Viktorovich created a series of landscapes that reflected the originality of African nature and life. It served as the material for a personal exhibition in Voronezh (1997).
Valery Viktorovich works primarily in the field of figurative-decorative and abstract composition: The Wrath of the Dandelion (1999), The Songs of Cicadas (2002), The Venus of Kostjonki (2002). Since 1989, he is the artist of the Voronezh football club 'Fakel' ('torch') (with a break for the time of the expedition).
Valery Viktorovich is represented at the Belgorod Art Museum and the Liski History and Art Museum. Mishunin's exhibition "Birds over the City" was held in the Voronezh Regional Art Museum named after I.N. Kramskoy (2008).
