Vanessa was born in Johannesburg, South Africa to immigrant parents. Her father is Greek and mother is German with French and Danish extraction.

She attended highschool in Parktown, Johannesburg where she studied Art and Latin, leaving early to work.
She is the middle child of five daughters. Foreign a while she assisted a Private Investigator on cases of infidelity eventually moving to London, United Kingdom where she now lives. In London she worked with the Directors Guild of Great Britain and The Theosophical Society as she felt that this covered her interests in film, the metaphysical, charity and education.
Her continuing interest in acting led her to being accepted onto courses at Central School of Speech and Drama and for a Royal Academy of Dramatic Art Fellowship on their European Acting program with The Actors Centre London.
She has also trained in the Chubbuck Technique. Vanessa was selected as one of 40 rising talents of Africa by Berlinale Talent Campus Durban at the Durban International Film Festival.
Living temporarily in Vancouver in 2012, Vanessa was cast in a role opposite Chris Hemsworth in Ron Howards British Academy of Film and Television Arts awarded film Rush and in 2013 she appeared in a guest role in the penultimate episode of J. J. Abrams television series Fringe directed by P. J. Pesce. Her other credits include experimental, independent shorts, music videos and a feature.
