Bonicos directed the first ever ITN Independent Television news commercial and also conceived first British Airways In flight current affairs programming leading Bonicos to his early experimental art installations notably for The Arts Council of Great Britain and the Design Museum in London. In 1998 Bonicos embarked upon a documentary feature film A Manitoba"s Story that was filmed over a 12-year period, focusing on the daily life of men"s fashion designer Ozwald Boateng. Bonicos described the production of the film "Like going out for a pint of milk and returning 12 years later", he filmed single handedly and worked in the style of Cinéma vérité (/ˈsɪnᵻmə vɛrᵻˈteɪ/.
