Vasant Shankar Huzurbazar completed his high school from Rajaram High school, Kolhapur. He did his Bachelor of Science from University of Mumbai and Master of Science in statistics from Banaras Hindu University during 1940-1941. Huzurbazar earned his Doctor of Philosophy in statistics from University of Cambridge in 1950.
Huzurbazar was the founder head of the department of statistics, University of Pune from 1953 to 1976. From 1979 to 1991, he served as professor at University of Denver, Colorado until his death. He served as visiting professor for two years to the Iowa State University in 1962.

Snehalata V. Huzurbazar is an American statistician, known for her work in statistical genetics, and also interested in applications of statistics to geology. She is a professor of biostatistics, and chair of the biostatistics department, at the West Virginia University School of Public Health.
Aparna V. Huzurbazar is an American statistician known for her work using graphical models to understand time-to-event data. She is the author of a book on this subject, Flowgraph Models for Multistate Time-to-Event Data (Wiley, 2004).
