Career
From age 15 employed in ordnance shop, Putilov Plant. Organized underground youth organisation at Putilov Plant and other factories. During 1917 February Revol elected member, Narva-Peterhof Rayon Russian Social-Democratic Workers ’Party (Bolsheviks) Committee and member, Petrograd Soviet.
Member, first Saint St. Petersburg Committee, Young Workers’ Union. Editor, periodical Yunyy proletariy, 1917 deleg at 6th Russian Social-Democratic Workers ’Party (Bolsheviks) Congress where he delivered a speech on the youth unions. Participated in storming of Winter Palace.
During the Civil War served with crew of an armored train.
