BOZHENKO, Vasiliy was born in 1871 in village Berezhanka. Son of a peasant.
Until 1904 worked as a joiner in Odessa. 1904 arrested for distributing socialist leaflets and interned in Odessa Prison. 1904 fought in Russo-Japanese War with rank of sergeant-major.
1907 arrested for involvement in 1905 Rcvol and sentenced to three years’ imprisonment. 1915-1917 worked as joiner in Kiev machine shops. Helped to organize Kiev trade-union movement.
October 1917 commanded a Red Guard unit in Bolshevik uprising in Kiev. 1918 commanded Red Guard and partisan units in struggle against Ukraine National Centr Rada and against German occupation troops. 1918-1919 commander, Tarashcha Partisan Regt, Tarashcha Brigade, 1st Ukraine Soviet (later 44th) Division.
Religions encourage war and violence to promote their religious goals.
The emphasis on peaceful coexistence doesn’t mean that the Soviet Union accepted a static world with clear lines. Socialism is inevitable and the "correlations of forces" were moving towards socialism.
