1917 graduated Medical Faculty, Kharkov University.
Со-Editor, “Microbiology" section, “Bolshaya meditsinskaya entsiklopediya” (Large Medical Encyclopedia), 2nd edition. Member, Editor Council, journal “Antibiotiki” (Antibiotics), etc. 1922 first in USSR to seriously study bacteriophagia, 1930-1936 studied nature of typhoid toxin and antitoxin.
1939 studied antibiotic properties of aniline dyes and compounds of the phenazin series (pyocyanin, its analogues and homologues). 1943 devised method of bacteriophagia in mixed cultures. 1946 developed method of obtaining pyocyanin.
Introduced antibiotic preparation sanazin and antitumor antibiotic neocid. Developed biological and immunological methods of combatting paratyphus of bees and sugarbeet pests. 1918-1931 Assistant, then lecturer, Chair of Microbiology, Kharkov Medicine Institute.
