From 1918 in Red Army. Fought in Civil War; 1938-1941 deputy commander, Kiev Special Military district. Commander, Volga Military district.
1940-1941 member, Central Committee, Communist Party Ukraine. 1941-1942 commander, Volga and Stalingrad military distribution 1942 fought in battle of Stalingrad.
1942-1943 commander, 28th Army. 1943 took part in mopping-up operations near Melitopol’. 1945-1953 deputy commander, Baltic Military district.
From 1953 in retirement.
