GORYACHKIN, Vasiliy was born on January 29, 1868 in Moscow.
1890 graduate Faculty of Physics and Mathematics, Moscow University. 1894 graduate Moscow Technical College.
From 1896 lecturer, Moscow Agric Institute (renamed the Petrine Academy of Agric, then the Moscow K. A. Timiryazev Academy of Agric). From 1899 assistant professor, from 1913 professor of this Academy. From 1913 founderhead, machine-testing station, which became an experimental base of his sci work.
1919-1922 rector, Petrine Academy of Agric, from 1929 director, All-Union Institute of Agric Mechanics Also sci director, All-Union Institute of Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture Together with V. R. Vil’yams helped found Moscow Institute of Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture
Until his death headed the Chair of Agric Machinery at this institute Postulated theoretical principles for the calculation and construction of agric machinery and implements. Much of his research, such as the mass and speed theory of agric machinery and implements, the principle of similarity and homogeneity, and the impact theory applied to the work of agric machines is of general significance for the theory of machines.
Pioneered and developed the sci of agric mech and established methods of theoretical and experimental research. Designed a number of testing devices and instruments (micromanometer, profile meter, traction and rotatory dynamometers, etc). His works served as basis for further research work in agric mechanization.
From 1935 founder-ed, publishing house Teoriya, konstruktsiya i proizvodstvo sel'skokhozyaystvennykh mashin (Theory, Design and Production of Agricultural Machinery).
Religion is bad because it stops people thinking in a rational and objective way.
Marxism–Leninism as the only truth could not, by its very nature, become outdated.
Honorary member, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences from 1932. Member, All-Union Academy of Agric from 1935.
