1902 passed master’s examination at Moscow University but did not defend thesis until 1906.

Established first laboratory in Moscow for control of pharmacy-produced drugs, where he supervised the development of 20 state-approved standards for complex drugs. Organized production of various galenic and clinical drugs, including cincophen, novocain, anesthesin and phénobarbital. Supervised cultivation of rhubarb, belladonna, asthma weed and other medicinal plants at Bittsa Sovkhoz.
Helped to compile 7th and 8th ed of State Pharmacopeia. From 1934 head, Chair of Medicinal Forms and Galenic Drug Technol, Moscow Pharmaceutical Institute. Made major contribution to the development of this budding branch of pharmaceutics.
