Presided over all legal sessions of Military Collegium, USSR Supreme Court, at all major political trials: 1934 “Leningrad Center” trial, at which L. V. Nikolaev and others were accused of murder of S. M. Kirov and subsequently sentenced to death and shot. 1935 trial in Leningrad of G. Ye. Zinovev, G. Ye. Yevdokimov and others, charged with complicity in the “Moscow Center” and sentenced to 10 years’ penal servitude.
1936 trial in Moscow of G. Ye. Zinovev, L. B. Kamenev, G. Ye. Yevdokimov, I. P. Bakaev, S. V. Mrachkovsky and V. A. Тег-Vaganyan, accused of organizing “Trotsky-Zinovev Center” and sentenced to death and shot.
1936 trial in Novosibirsk of “Counter-revolutionary Trotskyite Sabotage Group” at Kemerovo Mine, at which I. I. Noskov, F. I. Shubin and seven others were charged with sabotage and shot. 1937 trial in Moscow of the “Anti-Soviet Trotskyite Center”, at which Yu. L. Pyatakov, L. P. Serebryakov, N. I. Muralov and others were sentenced to death and shot.
1937 trial of L. M. Yenukidze, L. M. Karakhan and others on charges of espionage and terrorist activities, the accused being sentenced to death and shot. 1937 trial of M. N. Tukhachevsky, I. E. Yakir, I. L. Uborevich, A. I. Kork, R. P. Eydman, В. M. Feldman and others, charged with high treason and sentenced to death and shot.
1938 trial in Moscow of the “Rightist Trotskyite Bloc”, а( which N. I. Bukharin, A. I. Rykov, G.G. Yagoda, N. N. Krestinsky and others were sentenced to death and shot. Was directly responsible for mass reprisals in Beria period and during and after World War II in the purges carried out in USSR territory which had been under German occupation.
