1905 graduate Novo-Aleksandriyski Institute of Agric and Forestry.
1905-1909 uyezd agronomist in Penza Province. 1909-1944 associate, from 1944 director, Khar’kov Selection Station. From 1937 professor, Khar’kov Agric Institute.
From 1946 director, Institute of Genetics and Selection, Ukraine Academy of Sciences (now Institute of Plant-Growing, Selection and Genetics, Ukraine Minister of Agric). 1956-1962 member, Ukraine Academy of Sciences. Studied theoretical and practical aspects of selection and seed-growing for agric crops.
Bred new varieties of winter and spring wheal, rye, barley, millet and maize which were then extensively used in the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics. Coauthor and ed, textbook Obshchaya selektsiya i semenovodstvo polevykh kul’tur (The General Selection and Seed-Growing of Field Crops) (1940).
Member, Ukraine Academy of Sciences from 1945. Honorary member, All-Union Lenin Academy of Agric Sciences from 1956. Communist Party member from 1956.
