Tourist - a story by V.A. Vonlyarlyarsky (1814-1852) about the stay of a Russian traveler in Italy. It was first printed in 1852. Critics noted the vividness of the narrative and the light style. I must say that many of Vonlyarlyarsky's stories were marked by these advantages, while the frequent lack of vonlyarlyarsky's prose was called a weak plot and an abundance of unnecessary details. Russian edition.
Vasiliy Alexandrovich Vonlyarlyarsky was a writer (novelist, playwright) and editor. He served as an officer in the horse-pioneer squadron. He was the most popular Russian fiction writer of those years. His plays were successfully performed on the Moscow stage.
Background
Ethnicity:
His ancestors were Polish noblemen who came from southern Germany.
Vasiliy Alexandrovich Vonlyarlyarsky was born on April 12, 1814, in Smolensk, Russian Federation. He was the son of a participant in the Suvorov campaigns, Lieutenant Alexander Vonlyarlyarsky (1776-1853) from his marriage to Sophia Ivanovna Khrapovitskaya(1782- ?). From the old (from the 17th century) nobility of the Smolensk province (ancestors are Polish gentry, natives of southern Germany).
Education
Until the age of 14, Vasiliy Alexandrovich was brought up at home, then he was in a Noble boarding school at Saint Petersburg University.
After entering the school of guard cadets, Vasiliy Alexandrovich became close to Lermontov. After leaving school, he became a sub-Lieutenant in the guards' horse-pioneer squadron; but soon left the military service.
Vasiliy Alexandrovich did not print anything until 1851 when his essays appeared in Domestic notes: a Trip on the Marseilles steamship and a Lion Hunt in Milian. In 1849, he became very ill, went to the South of France and Algeria for treatment, but the disease did not leave him. It is impossible not to be surprised at the extraordinary fertility of Vasiliy Alexandrovich: all of his published works were written by him, as Polevoy reports, during the three years from 1850 to 1852. His collected works with a biography and portrait were published by K. A. Polev in 7 volumes in 1853-1854 in Saint Petersburg. Of all that Vasiliy Alexandrovich wrote, the Great lady was the most successful. On December 30, 1852, Vasiliy Alexandrovich died in Moscow and was buried in the village of Rai in Smolensk Province.
