Vasily Shchepetnev graduated from the medical faculty of the Voronezh State Medical Institute (now Voronezh State Medical University named after N. N. Burdenko) (1979), was engaged in medical practice in Tula and the Teploye village, Tula region. In 1983 he returned to Voronezh.
Since 1991, Vasily Shchepetnev was a doctor at the Center for the Prevention and Control of AIDS and Infectious Diseases.
As a writer began to be published from the beginning of the 1990s. Since 1997, Vasily Shchepetnev had been leading a column in the Moscow weekly "Komp'yuterra", was an editor of the online magazine "Rara Avis" (1998-2000). He was published in the "Home Computer" (Moscow, since 2001).
