Vasily Zhdanov was born on 27 December in 1874 in Storozhevoye village, Russian Federation.
Vasily graduated from Usman district school. He studied at the Central School of Technical Drawing of Baron Stieglitz in Saint Petersburg (1899-1905) and in the school of Anton Ashbe (Munich, 1905). In 1909 he went to Paris, studied at the P. Julienau, J.-P. Laurence academy.
Vasily worked as a teacher in the Voronezh Free Drawing School (1907-1909). He taught drawing in the Voronezh average 8-grade school (1910-1921) as well as in the Practical Institute (1921-1923) and later in the 1st industrial technical school (1923-1924). He was a teacher and head of the educational part of the Voronezh Art and Industrial College (since 1924). Vasily also participated in Voronezh artists exhibitions in 1920-1950-ies.
