Vasily Ivanovich studied at the Vologda Theological Seminary, graduated from the verbal faculty of Moscow University, where he became friends with N.V. Stankevich (dedicated to him a few poems).
Vasily Ivanovich was one of the main members of the N.V. Stankevich circle. He was an adjunct in the department of Russian literature at Kiev University. Subsequently, a teacher in various educational institutions of Moscow.
He published since 1832 (later - mainly in the journal "Otechestvennye zapiski"). Author of many lyrical poems collected in the posthumously published Krasov’s book "Poems" (Moscow, 1859).
