Vasily Pavlovich Krivoruchko was a Russian painter, graphic artist and public figure. He was a member of the Artists' Union (1952), Merited Cultural Worker of the RSFSR (1979), Laureate of Sergius of Radonezh Award (1992) and honorary citizen of Voronezh (1993). He participated in the Great Patriotic War.
Background
Vasily Pavlovich Krivoruchko was born on August 10, 1919 in Novo-Peschanoe village, Burla district, Altai Krai, Russian Federation. His large family moved to Altai to run away from hunger, but they fell short of hopes. The father's earnings were not enough to make ends meet. That is why the family came back to Donetsk, their native place.
Education
Since 1935 to 1939 Vasily Pavlovich Krivoruchko studied at Kharkiv Art School under Mykhailo Derehus, Vasyl Kasiian and Nikolay Samokish. After the Great Patriotic War, he continued his education at Moscow State Pedagogical Institute at the Art and Graphics Department (since 1946).
Since 1937, Vasily Pavlovich participated in regional, local, national and Union-wide exhibitions. In the 1960-1980s, he worked on the series of works: "Ship’s Voronezh", "My Rus", "On the Kulikovo Field". His solo exhibitions were repeatedly held in Moscow, various cities of Russia, in Voronezh and some districts of the region.
The works of Krivoruchko are represented in Voronezh Regional Art Museum named after Ivan Kramskoi, Voronezh Regional Museum of Local History, Liskinsk Museum of Local History, Ostrogozhsk Art Gallery named after Ivan Kramskoi, Moscow Museum of History and Reconstruction, in the museums of Pskov, Smolensk, Tambov, Tula and other cities.
