He has also been a Deputy Lieutenant of Bedfordshire since 2009 and was High Sheriff of Bedfordshire in 2007. Vaughan Robert Southgate was born on 13 May 1944. He was educated at Bedford Modern School, Aberystwyth University (Bachelor of Science) and Christ"s College, Cambridge (Doctor of Philosophy).
Southgate is a British medical parasitologist who was President of the Linnean Society of London between 2009 and 2012.
