Viacheslav Koleichuk was born on December 16, 1941 in Stepantsevo, Moscow Oblast, Russia.
Viacheslav Koleichuk graduated from the Moscow Architectural Institute (1966; since 1996 professor), worked with abstract space structures on the basis of self-stressed structures and transformation of plane.
In 1966-67, Koleichuk was a member of the group «Dvizhenie», which mastered kinetic art in the 1960s (together with L. V. Nussberg, F. Infante-Arana, etc.); he organized the group «Mir» (1968-72) and implemented the project of one of the first Soviet «mobiles» (the composition «Atom») on Kurchatov Square in Moscow. In the design of World’s fairs (Expo) in Montreal (1967), Spokane (1974) and Tsukuba (1985) his open works made of rods and guy lines as well as stretch mesh ceilings with a complex surface were used.
Koleichuk mainly made installation art that involved tensegrity. Sometimes these sculptures function as an experimental musical instrument during performances. Some of his works are part of the collection of the Kolodzei Art Foundation.
He was a member of (Lev Valdemarovich Nussberg"s) kinetic art movement Dvizhenie in the 60s.
