Vicente Carlos was born on November 19, 1945, in Manila, Philippines. He came of age during a period of institutional and political transformation in the Philippines, developments that shaped the legal and corporate environment in which he later practiced.
Carlos studied at Ateneo de Manila University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1965 and a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1970. His education at one of the Philippines’ leading legal and academic institutions provided the foundation for his later work in corporate and legal practice.
He is fluent in English and Pilipino.
Carlos was admitted to the bar in the Republic of the Philippines in 1970 and subsequently established a professional career in legal practice. He became a partner at Puno Puno & Carlos Law Offices, where he worked in private legal practice with a focus on corporate and commercial matters.
In addition to his law practice, Carlos served as corporate secretary of Centro Escolar University beginning in 1979. His dual involvement in legal practice and university administration reflected his engagement with both corporate governance and higher education administration.
