Victor Chambi Lopez attended the Instituto de Artes Graficas in Buenos Aires, Argentina (1938-1941), then studied painting and drawing with Lino E. Espilimbergo, Emilio Petorutti and Raul Soldi in Argentina (1938- 1945).
Since 1945 Victor Chambi Lopez has been a freelance photographer. He has a studio and laboratory in his own home in Cuzco, Pern, where he teaches courses in the techniques and aesthetics of photography. In 1956 he returned to Peru from Buenos Aires, where he had also become a cinematographer (1947). Before that Victor Chambi Lopez was his father's assistant, from 1932 to 1937. His work has been widely exhibited and published in books, magazines and on tourist posters, both in his home country and abroad.
The photographer is an associate of the Foto Club of Buenos Aires, having founded the first Foto Club in Peru in 1957 in Cuzco. In his personal work Victor Chambi Lopez is especially interested in capturing the ethnological and anthropological aspects of humanity. He concentrates on the countryside, particularly the architectural and aesthetic values of the archaeological sites in Peru.
The photographer is an associate of the Foto Club of Buenos Aires, having founded the first Foto Club in Peru in 1957 in Cuzco. He is also affiliated with FIAP and the Federación de Fotografía Americana.
