Viktor DROBOTKO, USSR Microbiologist. Epidemiologist; Doctor of Medicine Science; full member, Ukrainia Academy of Sciences, since 1948; Professor, Science Director since 1938 and Director since 1944, Institute of Microbiology, Ukrainia Academy of Sciences.
DROBOTKO, Viktor was born in 1885 in village Dekhtyary, Sumy Oblast.
1913 graduated Medical Faculty, Kiev University.
Developed new vegetable antibiotic “Imanin”. Developed method of differential staining of bacteria, and synthetic nutrient media. Designed original filter for working with phages.
Member, Editor Council, journal “Antibiotika” (Antibiotics). Chairman, Ukrainia Society of Microbiologists, Epidemiologists and Infectionists. 1914-1925 doctor in Rommy, now Poltava Oblast.
1925-1931 Assistant, Kiev Bacteriological Institute. 1931-1938 Senior Science Associate and Head, Medicine Microbiology Department, D. K. Zabolotny Institute of Microbiology and Epidemiology, Ukrainia Academy of Sciences in Kiev, now Institute of Microbiology, Ukrainia Academy of Sciences.
