1918 graduate Petrograd Mining Institute.
Career
1920-1947 associate, Geological Committee (now All-Union Geological Research Institute). 1933-1945 professor, Centr Asian Indiana Institute. From 1955 president, All-Union Mineralogical Social.
Studied alkaline rocks of Tallass Alatau and some oriferous areas of Centr Asia. Explained development of structural-facial zones in shifting belts of the earth’s crust. Analysed volcanism in Tyan’-Shan’.
Proposed original theory on the stages of deep-level magmatic activity and analysed the separation of volatile magmatic compounds.

Correspondent member, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences from 1946.
