Entered Bengal Army 1859. Served in the 19th P.I., 41st B.I., 29th P.I., and commanded the 9th B.I. Regiment. I Colonel on the Stall at Mooltan, Punjab, 1895-1897, when vacated on promotion to Major-General.
Served Afghanistan, 1879-1880, with Khyber Field I Force (medal). North-east Frontier of India, Lushai, 1889, commanded the Force (thanks of Government, despatches). Chin-Lushai, 1889-1890, commanded the Chittagong Column (mentioned by Government of India, medal with 2 clasps, Companion of the Bath). U. S. list, Indian Army.
