Career
His conservation efforts were well received by local villagers and conservation communities from all over the world. Soni was profiled as one of 20 global "Earth Movers" by International Union for Conservation of Nature. Initially his conservation work received financial support from the International Union for Conservation of Nature Sir Peter Scott Fund. Soni specializes in plant molecular biology, conservation biology, and photosynthesis research.
He obtained his doctorate in India in 2005 and performed postdoctoral work at the University of Geneva in 2007.
He has served as a visiting scientist at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory, and the Commissariat à l"énergie atomique et aux énergies alternatives, France. Recently, he was elected as a Fellow of the Linnean Society of London.
