Elvin, Violetta was born on November 3, 1925 in Moscow.

Education

Graduated from the Moscow Choreographic School, 1942.

Career

Dancer at the Tashkent Theatre, 1943. Dancer and soloist at the Bolshoi Theatre and the Stanislavskii and Nemirovich-Danchenko Theatre until 1946. Married an Englishman.

She was the first Soviet citizen allowed to leave the country during Stalin’s life. With Sadler’s Wells, 1946-1956. Leading role in the first performance of the Dying Swan in the UK. Worked with F. Ashton.

Made some films. Retired, 1956. Lives in Italy.
