(This four-part book concerns experimental painting not as...)
This four-part book concerns experimental painting not as a style but as an attitude, challenging the established rules. It is directed at releasing the artist's inner self to gain a deeper, more personal perception of the physical world. Illustrated demonstrations explore such techniques as laying colour on colour, alternating between opaque and dye colours for increased vibrancy, building undertextures with charcoal washes, inks, coloured pencils and constructing a multi-layered surface with collage materials. The author's other books include "Painting the Spirit of Nature, Water Media - Processes and Possibilities" and "Watercolour - The Creative Experience".
