1899 graduate Imperial Military Medical Academy, Saint St. Petersburg.
After graduate, naval surgeon on ship and ashore. Observed that ventilation, healing and other systems sometimes did not serve their purpose and in certain cases were a health risk. Studied sanitary and tech equipment of warships and formulated hygiene standards for them.
Studied conditions required for prolonged service on board ship. Took part in refitting of numerous ships. His work proved importance of hygiene factors in designing warships.
Appointed to staff of Main Shipbuilding Board, Minister of the Navy, as specialist on shipboard sanitary' engineering After 1917 October Revol assistant, then head, Health Board, Baltic Fleet. From 1932 permanent representative of Military Health Board for Supervising Design and Construction of Ships, Sciences and Technical Committee, Soviet Navy.
Also performed teaching duties. From 1938 associate professor, then professor, Department of Naval Health Disciplines, Naval Faculty, 1st Leningrad Medical Institute (later Naval Medical Academy).
