Vladimir Petrovich Bykovsky

Vladimir was born in 1821, in Poltava province, Ukraine. Came from the clergy.

Education

He graduated from the Poltava Theological Seminary (1843), the Kiev Theological Academy (1853).

Career

Priest of the village Cellars of Priluki county of Poltava province, then of Priluki city (1844-1849). In 1851 he became a monk. The caretaker (since 1853), the rector (since 1856) of the Oryol Spiritual College. Member of the Historical and Statistical Department for the description of the Orel Diocese (1853-1858). Inspector of the Kherson Theological Seminary (1858-1864). Inspector of the Kazan Theological Academy (1864-1867). Rector of the Voronezh Theological Seminary (1867-1871), at the same time editor of the Voronezh diocesan statements. Bishop Ostrogozhsky, vicar of the Voronezh diocese (1871-1879), at the same time rector of the Akatova Alekseevsky monastery. Chairman of the Diocesan Committee of the Orthodox Missionary Society (1872-1879). Bishop of Orenburg and the Urals (1879-1882). Bishop of Chernigov (since 1882).
