1948-1956 head Near and Middle East Languages and Literature Section, Institute of Oriental Studies, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences. 1929-1946 candidate member, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences. Specialist in Turkish language and lit, Turkish ethnography, history and folklore, which he collected and studied during his numerous visits to Turkey.
