KARELIN, Vladimir was born in 1891.
Involved in revolutionary activity before the 1917 Revolution. Member of the SR Party. After 1917, one of the organizers of the left-wing SRs who joined in a coalition government with the Bolsheviks (and were expelled from the SR Party).
Member of the Central Committee of the left-wing SRs. Minister of State Property in the first Soviet government, Dec 1917. Member of the Soviet delegation at the Brest-Litovsk negotiations.
Resigned in protest over the peace treaty. One of the organizers of the left SRs’ revolt in Moscow in July 1918. A rrested in February 1919, but soon released.
Fled abroad, and continued his anti-Bolshevik activity in emigration.
Founder-member, Leftist Socialist-Revolutionary Party.
