In 1952 Vladimir Karlov graduated from the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University. In 1961 he gained a PhD degree in the Federal State Autonomous Institution “Scientific Center of Children’s Health” .
After graduating from the First Moscow State Medical University Vladimir Karlov came a long way from being a district hospital neurologist to Head of Neuropathology Department in one of the largest medical universities of Russia - The Moscow Medical Stomatology Institute. Vladimir Karlov is a highly qualified professor and lecturer and a creator of an influential neurological school focused on epilepsy, facial neurology and hemostatic failures.
He made a great contribution in the development of Russian epileptology.

Prefrontal cortex as a key element in antiepileptic defence, focal origin of Absence seizures,Pathogenesis and therapy of Status epilepticus, female epilepsy, paroxysmal brain, concept of antidromic mechanism pain under nerve root compression.
