Graduate General Staff Academy.
From 1888 in Russian Army. During World War 1 commanded brigade, then 35th and 4th Infantry Division and, finally, 1st Guards Corps. 1918, with development of Civil War in Southern Russia, commanded 12,000-strong forces group in General Denikin’s army.
From December 1918 commanded 3rd Infantry Division, transferred to Donbass after withdrawal of German troops. After receiving reinforcements, cleared Donbass of Soviet troops and 1919 launched offensive in north. May 1919 his group was renamed Volunteer Army of Southern Russian Armed Forces.
June 1919 his troops occupied Khar’kov, whereupon Denikin appointed him commander in chief of the six provinces he had occupied. October 1919 his troops were defeated at Kursk and Voronezh and were forced to retreat southwards. His staff was infiltrated by Soviet agents and disrupted by drunkenness.
Because of this, in December 1919 Denikin dismissed him as commander of Volunteer Army.
Religion divides people, and is a cause of numerous wars and conflicts throughout the human history.
The emphasis on peaceful coexistence doesn’t mean that the Soviet Union accepted a static world with clear lines. Socialism is inevitable and the "correlations of forces" were moving towards socialism.
