At start of World War 2 studied at Communist Institute of Journalism, Minsk.
From August 1941 with undeiground Party group in Minsk. Wrote leaflets, distributed Soviet Information Bureau bulletins and maintained liaison with other underground Party groups and partisan units. From May 1942 member, undeiground Minsk City Committee, Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Belorussian and head of its Agitation and Propaganda Department.
Edited underground publications, particularly newspaper “Zvyazda”.
