Graduated from the Zagorsk Theological Academy, 1977.
Career
Employed in the publishing department of the Moscow Patriarchate. Gathered a unique collection of documents on church-state relations in Russia after 1917. Wrote a history of the Russian Orthodox Church under Soviet rule.
Part of this work has been published in the West. The other part was confiscated by the Committee for State Security. Arrested in April 1986.
Sentenced to 7 years in camps and 5 years exile. Released, 1988.
