1904 graduate Naval Cadet Corps. Graduate History and Philology Faculty, Saint St. Petersburg University. During World War 1 served in Russian Navy at Kronstadt.
Then research work; compiled "Bibliograficheskiy spisok knig, napechatannykh v provintsii so vremeni vozniknovcniya grazhdanskiy tipografiy po 1807 god” (A Bibliographical List of Books Printed in the Provinces from the Appearance of Civilian Printing Presses to 1807) (1912). Edited collection of documents Alonarkhiya pered krusheniyem, 1914—1917 gody (The Monarchy Before Its Downfall, 1914-1917) (1927).
