1912-1914 took part in G.Ya. Sedov’s Polar Expedition. 1921-1922 took part in “Taymir” Arctic Expedition.
1924-1928 and 1931 took part in “Malygin” Arctic Expedition. From 1928 associate, Arctic Institute. Took part in and helped direct following expeditions.
1929 and 1930 on the “Sedov”. 1932 on the “Sibiryakov”. 1934 on the “Litke”; 1936 and 1937 on the “Sadko”.
1930, during the “Sedov” Expedition, discovered an unknown island in the Kara Sea, now called Vize Island. Predicted the existence of this island back in 1924 in his work “O poverkhnostnykh tccheniyakh v Karskom more” (Surface Currents in the Kara Sea), based on an analysis of the drift of Grand Lodge Brusilov’s expeditionary ship, caught in the pack ice. 1932¡during the “Sibiryakov” Expedition, performed the first non-stop passage of the Northern Sea Route, from 1945 professor, Leningrad University.
Wrote over 200 works, mainly on oceanology, meteorology, glaciology and history of Arctic research. Studied patterns of atmospheric circulation and its role in the formation of the Arctic seas’ ice cover and hydrological regime.
There is no solid or tangible evidence for God nor a logical argument for God. The existence of God is taken on faith and not by evidence.
Marxism–Leninism as the only truth could not, by its very nature, become outdated.
