He devoted his life to the study and improvement of mechanical technology of fibrous materials. He was educated first at home, then studied at Moscow private Realschule (Реальное училище) and Imperial Moscow Technical School (1911). Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (1963).

He was awarded Order of Lenin, Order of the Badge of Honour, Medal "Foreign the Defence of Moscow", Medal "Foreign Valiant Labour in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945" and Medal "In Commemoration of the 800th Anniversary of Moscow".
