In 1976 Vladimir Mikhailovich graduated from the Moscow Power Engineering Institute as an electrical engineer. In 1987 Gurychev V. M. successfully graduated from the post-graduate course of the power engineering department of the Moscow Power Engineering Institute.
From 1976 to 1977 Vladimir Mikhailovich worked as an intern at Mosenergo TPP-23 in Moscow, mastering the specialty of the shift supervisor. Then he became the shift supervisor of the electrical workshop and in 1978 - the shift supervisor of the entire power plant. In 1979, by order of Soyuzatomenergo, Vladimir Mikhailovich was sent for two years to Bulgaria to the nuclear power plant Kozloduy. Returning in 1981 to Moscow Vladimir Mikhailovich worked as a shift supervisor at Mosenergo TPP-8, and from 1982 to 1989 - at the Central Dispatch Administration of the unified energy system of the USSR. In 1989 he decided to try his hand at a different field and until 1992 worked as a commercial director of the inter-farm association for the production of consumer goods and provision of services to the population "Tovus-Center." In 1992 a group of energy workers established the Sigma-Energo CJSC. Vladimir Mikhailovich became chairman of the board of the company and is holding this position till present. In 1993 the Joint-Stock Commercial Bank "Megawatt-Bank" was established. V.M. Gurychev was elected chairman of the Board of Directors. He is a member of the Presidium of the international non-governmental organization Union of Friends of Bulgaria (1997).
In 1996, Vladimir Mikhailovich Gurychev proposed the shareholders of Sigma-Energo CJSC and Megawatt-Bank to make donations for the restoration and reconstruction of the Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin in the village of Voskresenskoye, Noginsk district.
For several years, Vladimir Mikhailovich has been providing financial assistance to the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Sunday School on the Lyshchikova Hill in Moscow. In 1999-2000 he donated for the restoration of the temple in the village of Fedorovskoye, Moscow Region.
In Bulgaria V.M. Gurychev donated money for the construction of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin in Pomporovo (1999) and the restoration of the church in the village of Telish, 30 kilometers from Pleven (2000).
