In 1959 Vladimir Sergeevich graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Voronezh Engineering Construction Institute and in 1966 - from the aviation department of the Voronezh Polytechnic Institute (now Voronezh State Technical University).
In 1956 Vladimir Sergeevich volunteered on training practice on virgin soil, where he took part in the harvesting of the first virgin crop. In 1965, he began to develop as part of a specially created department of the country's first nuclear rocket engine, was responsible for creating protection systems against the radiation effects of a nuclear reactor on people and equipment of a promising orbital complex, as well as protecting the hydrogen tank of a rocket from overheating and explosion. Since 1974 Vladimir Sergeevich began to create in the group of engineers a sustained oxygen-hydrogen liquid-fired rocket engine RD-0120 (11D122) for the extra-heavy space launch vehicle "Energia".
Vladimir Sergeevich Rachuk is married and has a son and two daughters, a grandson and a granddaughter.
